About me

A bit of background

Hi, I’m Christian Windeck, a mid-40s photography enthusiast who discovered his passion relatively late in life. My journey into photography began in 2022, during a period marked by some health challenges. At that time, I realized I needed a private outlet to balance my professional life as the owner of rheinland relations, a PR agency in Bonn, Germany.

Photography, which had always intrigued me during occasional work projects, became this new outlet. I decided to explore it further, and what started as a private pursuit quickly turned into a profound passion. I owe much of my photographic knowledge to my friends Sascha (Instagram)  and Arno (Instagram), who guided me through the technical aspects of photography. For me as a beginner, mastering the complexities of photography sometimes felt overwhelming, and I am deeply grateful for their support and encouragement.

I also credit numerous YouTube channels for helping me understand photography fundamentals and my cameras - primarily the Fujifilm X-T4 and later on the X-T5. This journey of learning and exploration has shaped my approach and fueled my creativity.

I fell in love with landscape photography, especially at sunrise. There’s something magical about the stillness of early mornings - the same location can transform dramatically depending on the light and mood of the day. And with most people still asleep, I often have the place entirely to myself, whether in the countryside or the city. Urban photography at dawn offers a unique perspective: iconic spots devoid of crowds, presenting a rare opportunity to capture their quiet essence.

Recently, I’ve also started exploring analog photography, a passion sparked by a family discovery. My father gifted me my grandfather’s old Praktica L camera, a simple, vintage East German model you might find on eBay for 20 euros. Despite its humble reputation, this camera fascinated me and inspired me to dive deeper into film photography. Moving forward, I plan to share more of my analog photography adventures here.

As my interest in photography deepened, I found myself branching out into street photography, especially during my travels. Exploring vibrant cities and capturing candid moments has become another creative thrill. Travel has always been a big part of my life, and my camera allows me to relive those experiences long after the journey ends. My favorite destination? The USA, a dreamland for photographers with its breathtaking landscapes and endless variety of scenery.

Starting out as a photographer wasn’t without its challenges. Discovering great photo spots, especially in unfamiliar places, was tricky. I’m incredibly grateful to the online photography community, whose Instagram posts, web tips, and even Google Maps locations were invaluable to me. Inspired by their generosity, I created this site to give something back.

Here, you’ll find albums organized by country, city, and location—designed to help fellow photographers discover inspiring spots and make the most of their shoots. My hope is to inspire others to explore these places and capture their own unforgettable moments.

Whether you’re a seasoned photographer or just starting, I’d love for you to explore my portfolio and feel inspired to venture out with your camera. Let’s share the joy of finding beauty in the world around us.
