The Wahner Heide, located near Cologne Bonn Airport, is a hidden gem for sunrise photography. Just a five-minute walk from the Camp Altenrath parking area, you’ll find yourself in a flight path with stunning views of the airport’s signal systems framed by the soft morning light.
While I’ve yet to capture a landing plane, others have managed incredible aviation shots here - checking the flight schedule might be worth it. Even without planes, the serene landscape and sunrise atmosphere make this spot a must-visit for nature and landscape photographers.
